What works, and what does not yet.
The person this store is built for is often in his seventies, on a phone, outdoors, sometimes wearing gloves. That is the design floor here, not an edge case. Below is what we have built in and measured, and then what is still wrong.
No hover-dependent interaction, anywhere
Nothing on this site reveals itself when a pointer passes over it. A phone has no hover and a person wearing work gloves is not aiming precisely. Every affordance is a real control with a word on it. This is checked by an automated gate on every route at 390px and 1440px, and a rule that reveals content on hover fails the build.
44px minimum on every interactive target
Measured, not assumed: the harness reads the rendered size of every link, button, input, select and summary on every route at both widths and fails on anything under 44 by 44.
Reduced motion is honoured on every animated surface
Under prefers-reduced-motion the site does not go blank or still — it settles onto a composed, lit frame with the content in its final position. Nothing that moves is load-bearing.
Every route works without WebGL
3D exists in exactly two places and neither is required to read, choose or buy anything. With WebGL unavailable every route still renders, still reads and still checks out.
Text stays readable at a phone's smallest sizes
A 14px floor is enforced on body text at 580px and below, verified against a real browser rather than against the stylesheet.
Content is readable with animation switched off
The animation switch is a real setting, not a marketing toggle. Turning it off leaves every word in place.
What is still wrong
- No independent audit has been done
- Everything above is our own measurement. We have not paid for an external WCAG audit and we are not going to claim a conformance level we have not had tested. When one happens, its findings go on this page, including the ones we fail.
- Screen-reader testing is partial
- Semantics, landmarks and labels are written deliberately and checked by hand, but we have not run a full pass with JAWS or NVDA on every route. If something reads wrongly to you, that is a defect and we want to hear about it.
- The product previews are pictures of documents
- A page-turn preview is an image of a page, so its text is not selectable or reachable by a screen reader. Every product page states its scope, contents and exclusions in real text beside the preview, and that text is the authoritative version.
- Colour contrast is strong but not uniformly AAA
- Body text against the field clears 13:1. Some quieter labels — timestamps, footnotes, meta lines — sit lower than that on purpose so they do not compete. They clear AA and not AAA.
If something here blocks you
Write to support@simplydigital.net and say what you were trying to do and what got in the way. A person reads it. If you cannot use a page to buy something you need, tell us what you need and we will do it for you by hand rather than making you fight the interface.
