It finds the gaps before the price is agreed. For every item it asks three things: is it in, who supplies the material, and who does the work. It then walks through the eighteen items that go unmentioned most often on small jobs, from temporary power and dumpsters to layout, permits, patching other trades' work and the punch list.
Section 3.3 lists five checks to write down rather than file: the named insured matches the firm exactly, the policy period covers the whole job, the limits meet what you required, you are an additional insured by endorsement and not just a tick on the certificate, and workers' compensation or a valid state exemption is on file.
Yes, and that comes first. Section 2 sets out the three categories the IRS groups the facts into (behavioral control, financial control and type of relationship), a twenty-four question worksheet with no score at the bottom, when to use Form SS-8, and a page to record the decision.
This kit is for the contractor engaging a first few subs, or one sub at a time. It spends its pages on classification and intake and gives an agreement sized to the job. The Construction Subcontractor Agreement is the bigger instrument for a general contractor running several trades on one project.
